Forthcoming Exhibition: La Petite Muerte

I will have a new graphite drawing, The faintest echo of the tiniest whisper in the thunder of time, in the group exhibition La Petite Muerte at The Drawers Gallery, London E8.

The exhibition will feature the work of 20 artists exploring contemporary notions of mortality, sex, rituals and icons in celebration of Mexico's Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead. My work in La Petite Muerte is a new drawing using graphite powder applied to paper with a brush, which creates metallic gradients to suggest depth and movement in the drawing's surface. In the centre of the drawing is a shaft of light, a masked off area of raw, uncovered paper, suggestive of a light glowing in the centre of a gradated grey landscape or at the end of a tunnel. The title of the work, The faintest echo of the tiniest whisper in the thunder of time, is a quote from the 1960s cult Sci Fi TV show The Outer Limits.

The preview of La Petite Muerte is on Thursday 1 November 7-11pm. There is more information on the exhibition here: lapetitemuerte.wordpress.com
